I am trying to find information about William J. McDonald/McDaniel that was in Jefferson County, AL. 1851 to 1875. I first found this name on my gg grand mother Catherine Ann Hardyman 1833-1909 Jefferson County, AL. grave stone. It says she was the wife of W.J. McDaniel.
In 1860,1870 & 1880 Census Reports she was listed as head of household. W.J. was never there, & in 1880 she was listed as wodowed or divorced. In 1870 she was listed as C. McDonald, 1860, 1880 & 1900 she was listed as McDaniel. They had the following children, all born near Bessemer, Jefferson County, AL.
Elizabeth S. 1851
Margaret Ann 1854
John Tyler 1856
Louise V. 1859
William Edward 1864
Sarah 1871
Clem 1875
I think W.J. father was named John because of his 1st son name. W.J. may have been born in Alabama about 1825.
I had a yDNA test done about a year ago, & my yDNA connect me with the McDonald Family. I have a perfect yDNA match with one man from Virginia that has a paper trail back to LT Bryan McDonald born 1645 Ireland died 1707 Delware.
