MacDonalds (Denoon) Antigonish, Nova Scotia

Below is an excerpt from an Antigonish history book. It refers to my original ancestors on my mother's father's side of the family. My grandfather was Leo A. MacDonald and his wife is Mary Janet MacDonald (Chisholm).

"The MacDonalds (Denoon) was one of the early MacDonald families to settle in Antigonish County. The Pioneer settler, Alexander MacDonald, son of Donald, son of John, cam from Kinloch Moidart to P.E.I., in 1790, and after a few years there crossed over to the Gulf shore. He belonged to the Clanranald MacDonalds. He bought from a settler named John MacNeil for f 40-0-0, the rights to a lot of land at Georgeville, and obtained a grant for the lot in 1828. He was married to a Miss Catherine MacIntyre and left a large family."

I was wondering if anyone has any information on Alexander's parents, grandparents or extended family.
