Amos McDonald (42) and his wife Nancy appear in the 1850 Scott Co., TN census with children Allen, R.H.(?), E.J. and James. In 1860 they are still in Scott Co., TN with Rebecca A., Elizabeth J., James, Mary F., Farazina, Elihu, George W. There is also a 10 year old child named William whose last name I can't make out (starts with an "M"). By 1870 they appear to have relocated to Pulaski Co., KY. They are listed under the surname "McDaniel" but it looks like them otherwise. There is Amos, Nancy, Farasina, Elihu, George W., Martha L., Samuel and Mahala. In 1880 they are still in Pulaski Co., KY under the McDonald surname. There are two additions to the family, Adabell and John R.
Is anyone familiar with this family? What I desperately need to know is: Did Amos have a sister (or other relative) named Pharaba McDonald Reed (b abt 1805? Pharaba was the second wife of Isaac Reed of Scott Co., TN. Together, they had two sons, Julian (b 1842) and Harrrison. Isaac had a large family with his first wife, a Hatfield. Isaac died while Julian and Harrison were still minors and an Amos McDonald appears to have briefly been named their guardian before reliquishing that title to Pharaba. Were Amos and Pharaba siblings? Any help sorting this out would be most appreciated.
