There was an older daughter, Kate, already married to John Grant at time of the 1881 census, and POSSIBLY another older daughter married to Roach. Maybe others?
My GGmother, Flora, born in Antigonish, married Alex S Gillis, born in Antigonish about 1865, moved to Nanaimo BC about 1898 and back to New Waterford Cape Breton about 1911. Their children: Mary b abt 1896 in Stellarton, Florence B abt 1898, Martha b 1900, Sadie born 1908 and Henry all born in Nanaimo BC
Sarah married Malcolm MacDonald (Miramichi??) and brought up a family, including 3 daughters who became nuns, in Cape Breton.
The older daughter named Margaret married Thomas Roach. Along with their own children, they raised her sister Kate & his brother John's son, Angus. John grant was killed in a mine accident and Kate died before/by 1885
The younger daughter named Margaret married Murdoch MacKenzie, Deputy Mayor of Stellarton.
Mary married Jim Burns
