Hello everyone,
I've just come across a marriage cert for a g.g cousin of mine[Elizabeth Gifford] here are the details:
Marriages in the District of Acharacle in the County of Argyle
26th November 1919
at Mingarry,Acharacle [After publication according to the forms of the RC Church]
Elizabeth Gifford [Cook] Spinster
Aged 30
Usual Residence : Kinlochmoidart,Acharacle.
Her Parents : Edmund Gifford and Jane Gifford [M/S Pearson]
Allan MacDonald [could be Porter] bachelor
Aged 41
Usual Residence : Kinlochmoidart,Acharacle.
His Parents : John MacDonald [Crofter] and Sarah MacDonald [M/S MacDonald] deceased
Witnesses were :
Angus McDonald and Christina MacDonald [one Mc , the other Mac]
Now, i know that they ended up in Australia. Her death was 25th May 1927 in Wangaratta,Victoria,Australia.
Her father Edmund Gifford also died in Australia :9th June 1929 at Tatura,Victoria,Australia.
So i'm assuming he went to live with his daughter [his wife Jane Pearson having died in 1916...although it doesn't say deceased on the marriage cert, i have her death cert]
Are any of these MacDonald's part of your family ?
