Margaret, my great grandmother, may have been the daughter of hugh MacDonald and Flora MacDougall. She was the sister of Archbishop MacDonald, and I'm lead to believe (oral history) they lived at Mary(s)ville near Judique, Cape Breton. I've yet to find her or the Archbisop in "Fair is the Place" (fabulous book!) but hope to do so, as I recently visited Maryville and was warmly welcomed by kind folk I believe to be relatives. Margaret married Archibald Gillis of Miscouche Prince Edward Island and died there in 1933 or 1934. She had many relatives in Pictou and Antigonish areas. My father has her letters, but I have not read them in years. The Archbishop served the parishioners of Harbor Grace Nf. and was presented a lovely gift in 1881. Yhat is all I know of him at present. Any information is greatly appreciated. Dawna Gillis, half Sutherland, part MacDonald. Notify Administrator about this message?
