Noticed your query regarding Alexander MacDonald and Jane Gardner. They seem to be from the same area, in fact, the same village as my family of McDonalds, who were also connected to Flora MacDonald.Roderick McDonald and Elspet McDonald were married at Inverness in 1779. Born ca. 1750.Two sons were born at Inverness Alexander 1780 and Roderick 1781.Roderick was a Cooper to trade.Later, the family moved to Banffshirein 1784,possiblywith the Berwick Fishing Co.
One of Roderick's Grandsons, David McDonald, used to take his sons in his fishing boat to visit relatives in Inverness and the other Grandson, who was a Coastguard used to take his children to Inverness and also to the West Coast to see relatives.
I think yourAlexander came from Inverness, possibly to join other members of his family. He was a blacksmith to trade.
Have more information
