Well, Michael, Samuel Ward McDonald was born in Mississippi July 10, 1861. All of his children by this first wife, Susan Ida Hodges, d 1894, were born in Texas. They moved to Navaro County and then to Hico in Hamilton County and then to Comanche County. He and Susan had 7 children. He married Laura Bell Miller in Arkansas in 1895 and they continued to live in Comanche County and had 9 children. Oliver Ward was born 12/08/1906. The given names of family members are almost always "namesakes". Oliver's brothers were Jake Harvey, Wordie, Charles Millser, Edward Wayne and J.B.; half-brothers were Wesley Willis, William Edker, Robert Allen, Lee. Sisters were May Ethel, Nellie Myrtle, Ida, Fannie Bell, Alma, Annie Inez. Any bells?
