Dear Ian,
Sorry I've been so long in replying, but I have not been checking the Macdonald site.Simon Macdonald was the son of John Macdonald and Mary Fraser, I have just recently discovered that he had a brother Alexander who married Ann Fraser, also a sister Sarah who married a William Fraser. Simon's wife was an Inverness Fraser born there in 1779 to William Fraser and Elizabeth Cummings. Simon fought at the battle of Waterloo 1815 and survived with wounds. I have the snuff box he carried on the battle field, as did his grandfather Donald Macdonald at Cullodeon.
Simon had the following family.
John b. Inverness 1802
Elizabeth b. Inverness 1804
John b. Inverness 1806
William b.1808
Donald b. 1810-1859 Drowned, my ancestor
William b. Inverness 1813
Mary b. 1815
Sarah b. 1818
Catherine b. also Inverness 1821
In one of the cencus's he was down as a weaver.
Simon 1775-1858 was buried at the 'Old Chapel Yard' in Inverness and I would imagine his parents would be at Kirkhill ?
Any help in locating them would be much appreciated.
Kind regards Allan
