I just recently discovered a book entitled Eigg: The Story of an Island by Camille Dressler. The book is about the history of the island and its people. The book isn't written in a way to do lookups but I'll post the surnames that are in the index. SURNAMES MacRuairi Cameron Campbell Cormack Ferguson Fyffe Kirk MacAskill MacCormick MacDonalds are very extensive, the book talks about the MacDonalds coming to Nova Scotia and Ontario MacKay MacKinnon MacLean MacLeod MacQuarrie These surnames have alot of people connected to them. If you would like me to do a lookup in the index for a surname not listed, I would be happy to. The following is an example of how the book is written. "Amongst the total of 328 Clanranald tenants who emigrated and ultimately prospered in areas like Pictou, Antigonish, and Judique in Nova Scotia was John MacDonald, his wife Effie and their four grownup children, his two brothers, his sister and her husband, John Ban MacDougall. Generations later, the descendants of John MacDonald, one of the Laig MacDonalds, who had earned his land in Nova Scotia in the king's service, were still known by their nickname of Bogainn MacDonalds, from Bog an Lochainn, the name of a bird on Eigg, the ring-ouzel, which can still be seen fishing in the Laig burn. The MacDonalds' reputation for going out fishing in all kinds of weather, already established before they left Eigg, had become as proverbial in their new home as the behavior of a little bird which spends half its life under water in their country of origin" The book begins at 5000 B.C. and ends in 1997. It is very complete! 8-) Sue-Ellen
