A James MacArthur lived at Harewood Road,Papanui,Christchurch,New Zealand ,about 1908. He may have died about 1916.His house at Harewood Road was named BELMONT,either then or at a later time. There were Scottish Thistle cut-outs in the woodwork above the verandahs,as well as panes of coloured glass,each depicting Scottish Thistles.Even the front iron gate sported a thistle adornment
Does any reader have any interest in,or knowledge of,BELMONT or its occupier,James MacArthur ?
I would be interested to learn more.
Note : it is possible that a Duncan Campbell was a later occupier and/or owner of the house
