I'm trying to trace my family back as far as I can. It gets tricky because my great great grandfather went by several names one of which was John Macaluso. According to my great grandmother's birth certificate, his name was Arcangelo Matranga, but when my great great grandfather died in 1961, his holy card gave the name John Macaluso. A census I pulled up from 1910, he gave the name John Macaluso. But a census I pulled in 1920, he gave the name Angelo Matranga. I don't know if or why my great great grandfather changed his name around, or maybe if my great great grandmother, Provvidenza Di Modica was possibly married twice, once to a Matranga and again to a Macaluso. Both of the names Matranga and Macaluso are names found in the town my family came from in Sicily, Piana Dei Greci(Piana Degli Albanesi). I know the had five children: Peter, Vita, Joe, Paul, and Dora. Peter and Vita were born back in Sicily, Joe and Paul in N.Y.C.and Dora in Baltimore. My great great grandfather, John Macaluso was born around 1870 and came from Piana Dei Greci, Sicily to New York and later to Baltimore. Please help me out on this!!!!!!!!!!!
