I honestly don't know the answer about the genealogy. David Mabe is usually listed as the son of Reuben, but he is about the same age as Reuben in 1850, so it seems they might be brothers. I have asked the question several times on message boards, but no one seems to know where the original genealogy came from. That doesn't mean it is wrong, but you will find that there are many errors in the early genealogies. Reuben Mabe was 58 in 1850, David Mabe was 60, and William was 37. David Mabe had a William age 12 living with him but his wife was 55. He also had a Margaret 10, George 4 and a Nugley 2 living with him. So, this suggest to me that they might be David's grandchildren and not his children. Some researchers have adjusted David's age downward to make him Reuben's son, but I don't know if this is correct or not. David Mabe lived next door to Franky Mabe in 1850 who also had a son named William age 8.
