STAPLES -- Capt. G.W. STAPLES, of the Steamship Panama, was shot through the abdomen at Portland, Oregon, last Saturday night, by a desperado named Fred. PATTERSON, whom he was assisting the Sheriff to arrest. He lingered until Sunday night and died. Deceased was a native of Gardiner, Massachusetts, aged 37, and leaves a wife and child at San Francisco. Notify Administrator about this message?
