I have a round-about connection here, and I am not sure if it will help either one of us, but it's worth asking the question.
First, do you know the date of the RR ditch collapse? I am trying to find information about a "railroad accident" that killed the brother of my gg-grfather in April 1886. His name was Michael Herbert, and he had a daughter, Julia, who married Patrick Quinn, a son of Peter and Maria, age 24, b. IRE, according to their marriage record in 1875 in Boston. I only have been able to trace them as recently as the birth of a son in 1883.
As far as I know, there is very little in the way of Mass. records on line, but I have access to that time period on microfilm at my local library. The next time I go I will check for a marriage for you. But, in the meantime, any info you may have about the railroad death would be most appreciated if it is around the right time period. Thanks!
