This is a second post to the "Grandpa Houghton Josselyn" post. First, thanks to LN for the information. I did some checking. I will order a film from the FHC to get the marriage record regarding Houghton S. Josselyn and Lydia P. Kneeland. Houghton's (aka Hooton, Holten, Holton) first wife was Susanna Sweetser. I had that, along with the names of six kids. Susanna did not die until 1876 and she is listed in a Malden, MA city directory in 1872/1873 as a "widow of Houghton" etc. Did they divorce and she passed as a widow? I found Holten G. Josselyn in Indiannapois, IN in 1870 census in the family of Alonson/Alanson Josselyn. Several things match. His age is wrong but if he married Lydia and lied about his age, why not do it again? Very interesting. Haven't found him beyond 1870. Need some kind of death record for this man.
