For such a small Island the genealogy is surprisingly difficult to research. There is a lot of history and it seems like everyone is intermarried. You need to check out the Nantucket Historical site website. They have a database search capability but it is buried and kind of hard to find. Let me know if you can not find it, but also look at the rootsweb-MA-Nantucket page for information.

You can spend many hours looking through the historical cemeteries and of course, you should check out the Capt. Albert Wood B&B Historical house.

If you have time you should read Albert Wood's book "In a Sperm Whale's Jaws" and also "Miriam Coffin or the Whale Fisherman", written by Keziah Coffin-Folger b. 9 Oct 1723 under a pseudonym. These are both available under a public library interlibrary loan to you local branch.

Please let me know what you find there because I am planning a visit myself. Have a good time.
