Thank you Bob for responding to my request. This is what I have found out. I have Josefina's death certificate and my great grandfather signed it. Josefina died in Gloucester, Massachusetts where my Holmberg family resided for a time and some relatives still live there.
Patrik, my great grandfather's brother, was born November 1860. Josefina and Lars are Patriks's parents. Paul who put down on his marriage certifacate Josefina and Lars as his parents, was born November 1860. Patrik came to the states in 1889 with the intended destination of St. Paul, Minn. Paul came to the US in 1889. Patrik was born in Goteberg, Sweden. Paul was born in Goteberg Sweden.
Here is the twist, there is no record in Sweden of a Paul being the son of Josefina Lundblad and Lars Holmberg. Yet it is in black and white that they are on Paul's marriage certificate here in the states. Patrik left behind a wife and 3 children. There is no record that he got divorced that I found yet. Paul got married to a Anna Peterson in May of 1898 and had a child that December which means Anna was pregnant when they got married.
I have information from the 1900 and 1910 census of the Gloucester, Massachusetts area. I have information from Sweden that I wrote for and emailed for. The dates mesh but the names of Paul and Patrik do not. So with all this in mind, it is leading to believe Patrik changed his name to Paul. My search still continues though.
