I am not trying to prove a relationship between James and Phineas. The sale of land is something I am trying to use to see if there is any connection or gives a hint on where to look. I don't know if this James was born in Sterling or anywhere else. I have been trying to "prove" the two Phineases are the same for 30 years. I have the birth record of Phineas (I) from the State of NH and I have a marriage record of Phineas (II) from Sterling. I do not have a death certificate because all the records from Lunenburg burned. Unless LDS has another source (and quite frankly I find much of their information useful only as an indicator about where to look), there is no death certificate that indicates Phineas' (II) place of birth. I do have Phineas' (II) will, but he died intestate and an administrative will was produced, and that gave no clue to his place of birth. I cannot demonstrate these two Phineases are the same person, and especially when his son states that his father was born in Massachusetts. The process would be easy if the documentation were present. It is not. John wrote:: To prove the relationship of James to Phineas, or to confirm the 2nd hand information about Phineas should be relatively easy at this point. You now have 3 towns to work with as well as dates. If you think James is the son of Phineas, Id contact the Sterling town clerk for a birth record for James, Sterling and Lunenburg are about 12 miles apart in distance. You may also be able to aquire Phineas and Lauras marriage document. This should prove place of birth and parents names. You can also contact the Bedford, NH town clerk for an extract of Phineas's birth, and the same with Lunenburg for his death record Notify Administrator about this message?
