Confectionery on Essex St., Lawrence, 1880s & George Tasker
I am looking for information about George A. Tasker (b. ca 1847 in NH) who married Susan Ella Cates (b. 1853 in ME, died 1937 in CA).They lived in Lawrence for many years. He is listed in the 1888-1891 Lawrence city directories as having occupation "wholesale and retail confectionery and fruit" at the location 204 Essex Street. The directories do not list the name of the business and I would like to know what was the name of the business and more about it.Apparently, there currently is a printing shop at that location. In the 1891-92 directory, the business is referred to as a "confectionery and lunch room."George and Susan's daughter, Emma M. Tasker, is listed as a clerk at the same business.
Anyother information about this famiy would be greatly appreciated.George and Susan's children were born as follows:
1.Emma May Tasker, b. Dec 1875 in Maine (she married Ernest Young, probably in Lawrence).
2.William Henry Tasker, b. 11 Jul 1878 in Lawrence (He married Charlotte _____, and died in 1963 in Massachusetts).
3.Walter Tasker b. Feb 1887 in Massachusetts.
George A. Tasker must have died before 1900, since Susan Tasker is listed as a widow in that census and was residing with her daughter's family in Worcester.
Thank you.
Sylvia
