Obituary obtained online from July 1998... Raymond G. Dupont NEW BEDFORD -- Raymond G. Dupont, 71, of New Bedford, died Saturday, July 25, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital, after a long illness. He was the husband of Dorrance E. (Joncas) Dupont and son of the late Napoleon and Lea (Lague) Dupont. He was born in New Bedford and lived in Mattapoisett for 20 years before returning to New Bedford four years ago. He and was a communicant of St. James Church. He was an expediter at Morse Cutting Tools for 36 years until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Dupont was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of the Reservation Golf Club and enjoyed bowling. Survivors include his widow, a son, Paul R. Dupont of Lynn; a daughter, Michelle Gomes of New Bedford; and four grandchildren. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Church. Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 490 Park Street. ---- No idea if there is a connection here between Raymond and my Dupont family. The obit states that Raymond is the son of Napoleon Dupont and Lea Lague. I know that my great-grandfather, Joseph Dupont had a brother named Napoleon: Napoleon DUPONT - b. c1868 - m1. Clara ROUET, 10 Sep 1891 at Pointe-du-Lac, Maskinonge, Quebec, Canada m2. Alexina GERVAIS, 27 Sep 1894 at St-Narcisse, Lotbiniere, Quebec, Canada If he had 2 wives, perhaps he had 3? It would be interesting to see if Census records list any information that could link him to my Dupont family. Parents names, place of origin, year of birth, date of marriage...
