Need Help with Barnstable Co., History early 1700's era

I am trying to research Barnstable Co., MA but am not doing so well with the online resources I am getting, but them I am not very good with Search Engines either.
I apparently don't word things in the proper way to get the results I hope for...anyway, I am hoping that someone here might be able to help answer a question for me.
During the 1700's, did a lot of Scottish or Ulster-Scot folks come to Barnstable Co.?
The reason I ask is that several of my own family tree members from that time period (the Ulster-Scot immigrations), seemed to have come to various places in Maine from Barnstable Co., MA.
Not all of these families are of Scottish descent, many were English, but I am hoping someone will know more about this and can help me.
Its not necessarily specific Names I am looking for, just the History that Scottish folks did come there or do business there or have some history there during the 1700's.
Thank You for any help at all.
