Your great-aunt my have descended from the Lysters of Rowton Castle.
The earliest known Lyster ancestor that I am fully aware of is Leonard or Richard Lyster, who was a wealthy linen draper. He had a dau. named Agnes Fitzherbert.Agnes from the Gentle family of Fitzherbert of Norbury Manor in Derbyshire, England.
The Lysters owned Rowton Castle in Salop (an abbreviation for Shropshire) for several centuries.Benjamin Disraeli's secretary was a Lyster, titular Lord Rowton. Rowton Castle still exists today. It's an upscale hotel. The original exterior is, of course, still intact; however, the original interior of the castle lay in ruin, so the hotel owners had to re-create a new interior.
It's a beautiful hotel! You can view a photo of Rowton Castle by going to google and typing in "Rowton Castle."
Good luck with your search as a side note, I'm a SIMMONS,too.
The SIMMONS of America are most likely descended from one of the SIMMONS families of either Cornwall or Devonshire.
Unfortunately, I cannot found out any information about my SIMMONS ancestry. The only concrete information that I possess regarding the SIMMONS is that my grandfather was Curtis SIMMONS and his father was from England, who was in turn, married to Elizabeth Dunnigan of Ireland. My SIMMONS branch, who was married to Elizabeth DUNNIGAN of Ireland emigrated to the US back in the 1800's.
If you need any further help; regarding, your ancestries, then please do not hesistate to contact me via e-mail.
Sincerely,
Jason Simmons
