Hi Cousin,
it is so difficult to follow the relationships. The Shanahan and Lyons families are intertwined so often. I found similar traits in other families of mey forebears. My GGf, Denis Crowley married Eliza Walsh in 1869. Onthe same day in the same church, his 15 year old sister married Eliza's 27 year old brother. I understand this could have been a way of avoiding payment of dowries. They cancelled out. The two families lived together on the same farm for about 10 years. Then Denis Senior died, at the same time there was a run of very poor harvests and recession. My GGf moved to Cork city where I now live.
I found similar double marriages in my wife's family in the 1880's
See message No. 4518 for another cousin.
