Looking for anything you might know on the Lyons family in Westmoreland County.I have an Elizabeth Lyons (1802-1867) from Washington Twp. according to publication of her marriage in 1818 to Daniel Swank (1800-1838).Allegheny Twp. was formed from Washington Twp. c. 1820.In 1841, Elizabeth married again to John McElroy in Allegheny Twp.The only Lyons I find in the 1820 census for Washington or Allegheny Twp. is William Lyons, but proof or anything about Elizabeth's parents or siblings has been elusive forever.
Now that I have asked, I will try to answer, but it will only be a little bit of an answer.I could find nothing past 1850 for Daniel Lindsay and Jane/Jean (Lyons) McKean.John and Margaret (Lyons) McKean were found in the 1860 census (as McKane) for Brush Creek, Scioto Co., OH, but I could not find them thereafter. Two more children had been born, and James L. and Nancy were no longer living with their parents.I found nothing on James L., but Nancy married Isaac W. Smith 22 Apr 1858 in Scioto Co., OH (from OH Marriages at ancestry). They were found also in Brush Creek in 1860.Isaac and Nancy, with their growing family, are found in 1870 in Union, Fayette, OH and in both 1880 and 1900, they are in Auglaize Co., OH.Nancy probably died between 1900 and 1908 when Ohio started keeping records.I found Isaac W. Smith's date of death as 10 Sep 1910 (Ohio Deaths).
I checked the Clark children for marriages which only go through 1900.I did find Minnie Clark marrying David Harold in Auglaize Co. 05 Aug 1891.
One of my uncles married a Margaret McKean, and I was also curious to see if they might be the same family.Aunt Margaret's family was in Lower Burrell.I think her father was George Anderson McKean, and I'm almost certain her grandparents were John McKean and Margaret Anderson. It looks like a different family from the little I know.
Thank you for any help you might provide, and I hope there might be a little here for you, too.
Mary Lou
