I have a gggrandmother Catherine Lyons b. abt 1862 in Co. Galway Ireland (I haven't confirmed this, but believe it to be true). My Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Lyons, who I know had a farm in Galway--thus my assumption his daughter was born in Galway. I beleive he may have had another daughter named Bridget (Catherine's sister) who married a man named Thomas Cunniff. I do know that in the 1890's Thomas Lyons' farm passed to his son-in-law Hugh Quigley (Catherine's husband). This is a little odd as one would expect the property to pass to a son--unless there were no sons, no sons living, or the sons had emigrated. I don't know Catherine's birth order, but it is conceivable she could have had a brother 10 years younger than herself (she herself had children over an 18 year time span). Please let me know if this is any help to you.
