Thanks for your information. I got interested in the Irish-born sisters Nora and Ann Lyons because they arrived in the US in 1872 before settling in Jersey City. It looked as though this Annie Lyons might be my great aunt, who arrived about that time and later married John Dutton and went to live in Jacksonville, Florida.

However since posting my original message I discovered that the New Jersey sisters were the daughters of Daniel Lyons and Bridget Grady. Also this particular Annie Lyons went on to marry David Harding in Jersey City in 1885.

This means they must belong to a different family as my own great grandparents were John Lyons and Hannah (maiden surname possibly Avendale).

If you recognise any of "my" names then I would be delighted to hear from you.
