Lyons is Irish. They come mostly from Co. Cork and the area thereabouts. In fact, there's a town in Cork called Castlelyons.
Lyon, without the S, isn't necessarily Irish. It can be Scottish or Scots-Irish.
My Lyonses emigrated from Ireland, probably Cork, and settled in Texas and then in Missouri.I haven't been able to trace them back before they emigrated from Ireland because I don't know what town or parish they were from.
