This picture of Mr. Thomas Lyttleton Lyon appears on the illustration page between pages 10 and 11 of the Proceedings of the American Society of Agronomy, vol.2, 1910. There is a brief biographical sketch of him on pages 11-12 of that volume. Please see that reference for more details. Mr. Lyon was born in 1869 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in the suburbs of Pittsburg. He was the son of James B. and Anna M. Lyon. Mr. Lyon graduated from Cornell University in 1891. He became a teacher. He travelled abroad and continued his education. In 1899 he married Bertha Clark (daughter of John R. Clark, a banker from Lincoln, Nebraska). He lived and worked in Nebraska for some time. He worked at the Univ. of Nebraska. In 1906 he became chair of the Soil Technology dept at the College of Agriculture at Cornell University in upstate NY. That is all the information I have on this picture. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
