Joseph was a son of Richard Lynn and Eleanor Marshall born 6 October 1806 and died 10 October 1899. He had no children but left a large number of nieces and nephews in Ireland, England, America, the Caribbean, Australia, and perhaps elsewhere, as revealed in his will. I believe many of those places for which no country is listed are places in Ireland. I've alphabetized the list by surname ... Berry: Joseph Lynn Berry of Salford, England Carrick: Mary E., wife of Joseph Carrick of Lurgan Carter: Mary C., wife of Joseph Carter of Belfast Chapman: John B. Salton of Goderick Canada Turney: Ann Jane Turney of New York City You can see from the list that Dr. Lynn was well loved and respected, the name Joseph Lynn being given as first and middle names to a number of his nephews. While Joseph Marshall Lynn and his parents lived in County Armagh, they all are buried in the graveyard of St. Salvator’s in Glaslough, County Monaghan, which lies roughly ten miles west of the town of Armagh. Here's the inscription from the family monument ... “Erected by Surgeon Major Lynn M.D. Armagh In memory of his revered Parents Eleanor Lynn who departed this life on the 26th August 1817 aged 51 years and Richard Lynn who died on the 12th of September 1823 aged 77 years and also in loving remembrance of his beloved wife Ann Jane Lynn who exchanged mortality for life on the 4th July 1884 aged 73 years. Joseph Marshall Lynn M.D. Surgeon Major, born 6th October 1806, died 10 October 1899 in his 94th year ‘Forever in the Lord’.” Notify Administrator about this message?
