Miss (Lynde) Smith of New Haven CT m1839 &d1841.
Can anyone identify the 'Miss Lynde of New Haven' probably born 1805-15 and d. 1841.What follows is a biog. of her husband, Ebenezer Smith which only mentions her name and date of death:
"Ebenezer Clark Smith, son of Amos and Eunice (Clark) Smith, was born at Washington, Conn., May 17, 1807.
His education till past twenty years of age, was such as could be obtained at common district schools. At the age of twenty-two his health had become so impaired as, in a measure, to unfit him for manual labor, and he determined, if possible, to obtain such an education as would enable him to procure a livelihood by other means.
"His studies preparatory to entering college were pursued first at his native place, and afterward at Litchfield.
On entering college he was assigned to the South Division. He was a member of the Linonian Society, though he took no very active part in its proceedings. He was often absent from college, by reason of ill-health and other causes, but kept up his studies, and was graduated with the class he entered.
"The first year after graduation he was employed in teaching, and at the same time studying medicine. He attended the medical course of lectures at Yale in the winter of 1837-8, and pursued his studies the following summer at New Haven. The next winter he was able to attend the lectures only a part of the term, but was licensed as physician in March, 1839.He located first at Branford, Conn., and afterward followed his professional business for a time at Thompsonville. In the fall of 1839 he married Miss Lynde, of New Haven. She died in March, 1841."
