Lynde Family Genealogy Forum

Anyone with a Lynde brick wall should consider a Y-DNA test. It was through DNA that a connection was made between my family and a distant cousin whose grandfather had been adopted.
Also, there is now a surname project at Family Tree DNA for Lynn/Linn/Lynd/Lind but ALSO to include the spellings Lynde, etc. since there was a general lack of consistency in the spelling of surnames even into the 19th century. In fact, one particular family in Scotland is documented to have appeared with as many as six different spellings of the name. No doubt this variance also occurred in countries other than Scotland.
If your family has already been tested, please consider joining the project. If you've already been tested but with a company other than FTDNA, you may still be able to join us. We soon will be uploading an independent website for any Lyne, etc. who is found to be in the uncommon haplogroup R-U198.
If you're interested in knowing more, please write me, Loretta (Lynn) Layman, at Lynneage@comcast.net. I hope very much to hear from some of you.
