Casting a wide net for Thomas Lynch and family....
Hello!
There once was a man named Thomas Lynch,(my gggggrandfather) who lived in Fannin County, Texas. His first wife was named Elizabeth Welch, who bore him a son, John Clark Lynch, then passed away.
Thomas Lynch then married Mariah Jane Powers. She bore him these children:
1. Cynthia Jane (Cinnie) Lynch, b. 1852
2. Thomas C. (Clark or Claude) Lynch, b. 1857
3. Joseph F. Lynch, b. 1858
4. Nancy Lynch, b. 1862.
There were possibly more children, but I do not have the 1880 census for Thomas and Mariah Lynch.
According to another researcher on Genforum, Thomas Lynch Sr. left Fannin County and went to San Saba County, becoming involved somehow with the vigilantes known as the San Saba Mob. His grave is in Varga Cemetery in San Saba County.
His son, Thomas C. Lynch, died sometime between 1895 and 1900. Could he have died in San Saba County as well?
Does anyone have any photos or other remembrances of the two Thomas Lynchs or of any of their children? Did they indeed come from Virginia, as my family lore states?
I have census records for 1850 and 1860 in Fannin County. In the census of 1870, it appears they were staying in Illinos, Washington County, Arkansas. Do you know where the family was in 1880?
Well, any and all help will be deeply appreciated!
Blessings on your searches!
