Lynch Families - Oneida Co. New York
There are many Michael Lynch census records in New York but there is one line in which I am particularly interested as it seems this one line stayed in Oneida Co. New York.I can't find every census record that I need to tie them all together so I would appreciate any help from anyone who has run into them.
This is what I know:On the 1870 Oneida Co. at Utica, NY is listed a Michael Lynch age 75 (page 298A) born 1795 in Ireland. He is an invalid living in or a patient at the Utica City Hospital. I cannot find him in 1850 under that name.
In 1850 in Utica, Oneida Co. NY is a Thomas Lynch age 31 born in Ireland, wife Ann age 20 and two children, Margaret age 3 and Catherine age 1.Another household is James S. Lynch age 24, wife Sarah 21, and child Abbie 5/13 months.Living with James are several unmarried roomers. This may be a clue as the family for whom I'm searching also have unmarried roomers or boarders living in their household.
That family is Michael Lynch born ca 1864 in New York
from the 1910,1920 and 1930 Oneida Co. NY census records, he married ca 1887 Melvina (the 1910 called her Etta). The follow up censuses called her Melvina age and year of marriage the same.Their children: (1) Helen b. 1889 married by 1920 to George Wiles b. 1883.(2) Kathleen born 1893 no further information; (3) John A. (Arthur) b. 1905 married by 1930 Mildred b.1908 and has a child named George A. (Arthur) born 1927.In all three of these census records, there are unmarried roomers. That's why I think there may be a connection back to the James S. Lynch on the 1850 census.Apparently the home is a very large house in Utica, Oneida Co. NY.It would be helpful if anyone is familiar with the older homes there as well as how the counties and streets changed.
The 1910 census of Michael born 1864 is while they are living on Main St.in the township called "Whitestown".The 1920 address in Utica was on Court St. and in 1930 the address in Utica is listed as Clark Place.Could all three of these addresses in Oneida County be the same place?Being a Southerner, I am not familiar with the development of any place in New York.Just like in the North, South, East or West, I know that development can change an address.I'm just thinking of the large home in which this family had enough rooms to allow roomers or boarders. At one time they had up to four. All single anddifferent surnames.
Any ideas or any kind of information will be appreciated.
