Our stories are similar. My husband's ggggrandfather, John Owen Lynch & wife Margaret were both born in Ireland. He in Mayo, she unknown but believed to be in Ireland. In 1827 they arrived via New York in Guelph, Ontario to help John Galt found the town of Guelph. They were hired by John Buchanan of the British Consolute in New York for the Canada Company. They had 2 children at this point - James, and a girl.Their 3rd child was born February 1828 in Guelph, Thomas Hyland Lynch.I believe I've seen the name Patrick Lynch on various records in Guelph & Puslinch where many Lynch families lived.I have a record of a James Lynch being born in Cork.Information prior to 1827 is so difficult to find (ie: how long were they in New York and which port did they leave from in Ireland, etc).If any of this is helpful, let me know.
