LYMAN /LYNAM - the same?

This question has probably been asked more times than you can count and should probably be a FAQ, but excuse me if I ask one more time. Are LYMAN and LYNAM the same name? I find instances in the Philadelphia city directories from 1868-1877 where they seem to use them interchangably.

Thanks.

Dan
