A biography/family history of Thomas L. Lyle, photograph artist, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2, pages 1159 & 1160. Parents: Thomas and Bessie (Gamble) Lyle, b. 1832, Ireland, and 1864, Scotland, respectively. Thomas, a blacksmith, came to Winnipeg, Canada, in 1885, and settled in Helena, MT, in 1888. Bessie died in Rochester, MN, in 1914. Their children: Leslie, Margaret (Mrs. Charles Dimmick, Los Angeles, CA), William (Helena, MT), Andy (Texas), Robert.

Leslie Lyle was educated in Helena. He became a commercial photographer.
