If you want to take the time, you could use the index at U. of St. Thomas and start checking the localities where the name appears the most frequently as well as the other surnames of their neighbors here in the US. Then start search the online records at the Mormon web. I would use the Decennales if they have them for the area. The images at the www.familysearch.org website are not indexed yet but are fairly easy to browse once you get the hang of it.

Are you familiar with the Lux. records?

If not, look at Therese Becker's website.

You could also contact the librarian at the Bach Dunn Luxembourg Collection at the U. of St. Thomas and see if they have any books with the Goedert name or if there are any books that have information for the localities that are associated with the name.

Have you tried contacting the Lux. American Cultural Society in Belgium WI?
