I'm not related, but I do have a suggestion for you. Luxembourg families tended to migrate either together or to an area where they already had family. If you haven't already, look for August's name on a passenger list and investigate the history of the town where he settled in WI. This might give you some clues as to where in Luxembourg he came from. By the way, if you've interpreted things correctly, the family is NOT from Germany. That's a common error from the census, based on the fact that the census takers heard German.
