Hello,
I have found some additional information at the National Archives of Luxembourg.
Nicolas Knauf was born April 16th 1874 in Huldange, municipality of Troisvierges/Basbellain (the german names of these two places are Ulflingen/Niederbesslingen). According to his birth record (April 17th 1874), his parents of Nicolas Knauf were Johann Knauf and Margaretha Oberlinkels.
According to the marriage record of Nicolas Knauf and Anne Marie Majeres, Nicolas Knauf was a railway worker (Eisenbahnarbeiter) in 1900. Anne Marie Majeres was born May 5th 1876 in Lengler, municipality of Reuland (Reuland belonged to Prussia in 1900, today this place belongs to Belgium). The parents of Anne Marie Majeres were Johann Majeres, deceased in Lengler February 10th 1896, and Margaretha Betz.
Johann Knauf married Margaretha Oberlinkels October 13th 1869 in Troisvierges/Basbellain. According to the marriage record of, Johann Knauf was born August 26th 1837 in Weywertz (Regierungsbezirk Achen, today this place belongs to Belgium). The parents of Johann Knauf were Anton Knauf and Johanna Thomas. Anton Knauf was a weaver (Weber), he died July 22nd 1849 in Weywertz. Johanna Thomas died November 3rd 1844 in Weywertz. Margaretha Oberlinkels was born April 22nd 1837 in Holler (municipality of Weiswampach, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg). The parents of Margaretha Oberlinkels were Johann Peter Oberlinkels, a 42 years old farmer (Ackerer), and Susanne Weiles. Johann Peter Oberlinkels died January 12th 1865 in Holler. Susanne Weiles died April 18th 1868 in Holler.
Johann Knauf was a farmer (Ackerer) in 1869, he was an inn-keeper (Gastwirt) from 1874 to 1908. The Knauf family lived in Huldange, a village in the municipality of Troisvierges/Basbellain. Johann Knauf died January 2nd 1908 in Troisvierges/Basbellain. Margaretha Oberlinkels died July 9th 1911 in Troisvierges/Basbellain.
