For my ggrandfather Nicolas, both grandfathers were named Nicolas also. I thought that was why two of them were named Nicolas and for the third, maybe because there were greatgrandfathers named Nicolas? For Valentin, there was a maternal uncle who could have been named after but he was the only one I have found.
