Thanks Georgia. And now I guess it is my turn to apologize for not being too clear. I am well aware of the potential of constant searching for the elusive document with the answer we need. In NYC, however, even though knowing the street they lived on in one census year, it becomes a daunting process because people moved around often. This is particularly true of births and marriages in the early years when most people left no civil records. I admit that on occasion I have had success. And, thanks to the terrific (free) databases of NYC Vitals created by the IGG and the GGG, the task has been eased somewhat.
My purpose in posting is just one more long shot. Maybe someone out there has this particuar family in their tree and has traced them back to an ancestor that we both have in common.
By the way, if you are looking for anyone in the NYC area, be sure to consult those databases.
