Dear Keith, The name Duschen appears in the online index to the 1853-1863 Decennale on the U. of St. Thomas' website. Please read the introduction which tells about the records that are available. http://www.stthomas.edu/libraries/special/lux/LuxDec.htm If you live near the university which is in St. Paul, Minnesota, you can do your research there in their Bach-Dunn special collections department. Otherwise, you can order microfilm through a local LDS family history center (Mormon Church). Therese Becker's website also give an overview of researching Lux. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~luxwgw/research.htm You can see what the various communes look like at the following. Just click on the globe: http://www.luxalbum.com/ For Junglinster, click on the Canton of Grevenmacher. The Institut Grand Ducal has a gazetteer of the villages and towns in German, French and Luxembourgish. If you do find that your relatives came from Lux., the records are great. Most are in German but during the Napoleonic era, they were in French using the French calendar. The Church records that I have are in Latin. Most of the records that I have found in the 1800 are a fill in the blank type form for the civil records. So, once you have an idea of the format, it fairly easy to find the names but the handwriting can be a little difficult. Might want to get a Gothic alphabet aid. You should be able to find one doing a google search. http://www.institutgrandducal.lu/Joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=109&Itemid=219 Georgia Notify Administrator about this message?
