Dear Gretchen,

The 1853-1863 Decennale at U. of St. Thomas only has one entry for the Kommer surname and it is a birth in Niederanven. There are two entries for Commer in Luxemboug Ville.

Anyway, do you think someone misunderstood the name. Could it possibly be Remich? Know anyone who could pronounce this in German? I tried mapquest and Remich is about 12 miles from Niederanven.
