In Feb. 1911 John Zehren came to the USA. John Zehren is listed in the 1918 Alien Registration Index as a non-naturalized resident of Benton County, Minnesota. Benton County is east of Stearns County - which is on the east bank of the Mississippi River. In 1918 John is married and has 3 daughters and 1 son. John Zehren says he was born 19 Sept. 1889 in Mutfort, Luxembourg. He is listed as a farmer. John Zehren registered for the military draft on June 5 (no year given) and is listed as a naturalized citizen. Since the draft registration cards are from 1917-1919, it could be June 1918 or June 1919. In the 1920 US Federal census for Benton County, Minnesota, I find John's wife, Lena , listed as a widow! The census was taken 14 -15 January 1920. She is living in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota with her four children. She is listed as 28 years old and born in Minnesota. So, John Zehren died between June 5th of 1918 or 1919 - and 15 January 1920. I cannot find John Zehrer in the Minnesota Death Index (which is on-line). I plan to check this out further. In 1920, Lena Zehrer is living next to the Peter Goedert family in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Peter is 34 years old, married with 5 children. He is a Luxembourger, arriving in the USA in 1888. So, Peter arrived here as a little boy. Peter has 2 sisters in St. Cloud, Mary - married to a Weyland; Catherine - married to a Reding; and Michael Goedert. I do not know the birth town in Luxembourg of the Goedert family. However, I wonder if John Zehren is a relative of the Goedert family. Can anyone help me with John Zehren's information?
