Georgia you are so dear for trying to help me! We have communicated before and I always learn something from you. In response to your post: The microfilms the LDS have are the same as those I searched in Luxembourg. However, they have different numbers. I did make a note of both numbers and locations of the films searched in Luxembourg so I don't order the same ones from LDS. There are thousands of microfilms in the Lux. Natl. Archives and there is no way I could have searched them all. The Family History Centers near me are very small and the people there are not particularly knowledgeable but they try and they are volunteering their time for folks like me. I have not been able to obtain a death certificate for Katherina. I requested one and none was found. William, Jr.'s IL marriage certificate does not indicate anything but the names of the bride and groom. I have not received the church marriage certificate as yet. Katherina's maiden name was listed on William's death certificate as Forbes but as we have discussed before on this board-Forbes is not a Luxembourg name and the information was given by a 3rd. party and taken down by a 4th. party. I have not found William, Jr. in the 1870 census either in IL or Wisconsin where I think he may have been before going to Kane County, IL. The Falen family that you found in the 1870 census may be mistranscribed but William would have been 35 at that time. The ages of Katie and Peter are within a couple of years of the ages I have listed for them. I believe William, Jr. had a brother named Peter. There is another researcher working her line of Fabers and we have made an unverified connection through a child of Peter. In addition the names William, Kate, Susan and Peter repeat through successive generations in my family. The first census where I found William, Jr. was 1880, he is in Virgil, Kane County, IL. Since Luxembourgers tended to be clannish and settled near other Luxembourgers I will check the neighbors in the index. I have spent hours with the index to the 1853-1863 Decennale and took copies with me to Luxembourg. There are lots of Fabers in those indexes! When in Luxembourg I started my search in the Cantons where Fabers were listed in the index. No luck. Again, thank you for your reply. I post my query every so often hoping someone will be searching the same line or have found information that will help with the brick wall I have been hitting my head on for the last 6 or 7 years.
