Dear Nancy, Have you tried looking at the microfilmed records that the Mormon church has? I don't know if these would be the same things that you researched in Luxembourg. The records include the Decennales and some church records. I did a search of the index to the 1853-1863 Decennale and apparently there are a lot of Fabers in Lux. http://www.stthomas.edu/libraries/special/lux/LuxDec.htm Do you have a death record for his mother Katherina? If not, I would start there to see if you can find out what her maiden name was. Doesn't William Jr.'s marriage record show his mother's maiden name? Do you have a church record which might show more information? On the 1870 census, are any of the neighbors from Lux.? I would look their names up on the Decennale index and would start my search where the names are in the same area of Lux. Ancestry.com has a William, Peter and Katie Falen indexed on the 1870 census as having come from Lux. I think the name may have been mistranscribed. I think it could be Faber. William and Peter are carpenters-William is age 24, Peter is 20 and Katie is 48. They are in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois. Notify Administrator about this message?
