I am stumped to find the parents of my gggggrandfather Nicholas ARENTZ. According to his 1816 Olm death record, he was 74 years old and born in Reckingen-Mess [about 1742]. And, according to his 1773 Olm marriage record, the banns were published in both Olm and Reckingen-Mess. If I could locate either his baptism record or the marriage banns record, I'm sure his parents would be listed. The Reckingen-Mess film goes back to only about 1756. I've checked the earlier records of all the neighboring towns. Of these towns, Dahlem (which includes Schouweiler) seems to have the most AREN-- during the 1710-1760 period and some of these non-AREN-- records do mention RECKINGEN as the home of baptism sponsors. And, on the map they're not far apart. If I were to go to RECKINGEN-MESS [RECKANGE] or OLM might I find additional records that could help me? Or, is there someone that I could hire to go there and search for me? Bob Arens 1262 Nebraska Ave. E. St. Paul, MN 55106 USA lavaeandbob@cs.com 651-771-6610 Notify Administrator about this message?
