ANNA KOOB de Kehmen--Her prayer book, dated in her script "Anna Koob de Kehmen, 1824," came to me through my grandfather Jacob H. Bold (1857-1924) who was a teacher in Stearns County rural schools until c. 1890. My Mother said some one in Cold Spring had given it to him and it has remained in the family ever since then. The volume measures 6" x 4", bound in brown tooled leather with the name "Anna Koob de Kehmen" inscribed in gold on the cover. The book's title: "Sammlung guter Gebeter, zum Grbrauch frommer Christen," written by P. (Pater, Father) Aegidius Jais, Benediktiner zu Benediktbeuern (Benedictine at the Monastery of Benediktbeuern in Bavaria). The Printer was "bey Schmit-Drueck, Buchdrucker und Buchhaendler, Nro. 403, LUTZEMBURG." There are 283 printed pages of old German script (not type). Does anyone know where this Anna Koob may fit into the known Koob families in Stearns Co., or possibly in Belgium, Ozaukee Co., WI, where the Bolds lived before moving to MN?Joe Schmitt, 1934-36th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94601-3622 (510) 532-5947.
