I have a copy of a genealogy of Peter Etring
(Etringer) compiled by Ted Rischard in 1972.
It traces your Nicolas Etringer back to a
Nicolas Oetring born about 1700 in
Luxembourg. There is even a picture of
Nicolas Etringer.

I am descended from Nicolas Etringer's
sister, Elisabeth, through her marriage to
Michael Toussaint. Their son Michael
Toussaint came to Iowa before 1883, when he
married Josephine Gilles, also from
Luxembourg. Michael and Josephine are buried
in West Union, Iowa. They had eight
children.

The genealogy is not documented with sources.
Mr. Rischard says that most of the data was
gathered by corresponence with family
members, and usually no attempt was made to
verify facts with public records.

I do not know if Mr. Rischard is still alive.
There is still a listing for him in Santa
Ana, California. He would be 80 years old.
